dbrcymry asked:

I have a pot of gorgeous coleus on my porch and would like to start a small pot to bring in this winter. Where do you cut to start the plant? Do you have to place the cutting in water to root?

I did, you just cut them and put them in water.
Once they develop roots you can pot them in up.
They have really improved the variety of colors over the years.

Take a cutting from the growing end of the plant- about 5″. Strip the bottom 3″ of it’s leaves and remove flowers if there are any. Place the cuttings in water and you will see roots form quickly. I actually leave my coleus cuttings in water all winter and pot them up in the spring. This method has worked for me for many years.
