San Francisco has enacted a new law that is stirring up some you know what. Citizens of San Francisco must compost certain items or face fines. This is the first mandatory composting law that I’ve ever heard of.
I don’t know how I feel about this. I believe in freedom and I believe in personal responsibility. I believe that if you don’t practice personal responsibility you will relinquish your freedoms a little bit at a time. The government must step in to fill the void left when people become irresponsible. I’d love to see everyone composting. Not just because I am a worm farmer but because it is great way to conserve resources and create natural fertilizer that beats the pants off of chemicals.
How do you feel about this? I’d Like to hear your thoughts.

Some one gave me cuttings from their plant and I don’t know whether to put it directly into soil or root it in water first. Pleas help…thank you. They were pulled off from the ends of the plants.

Please give a brief detail of your experience with this, ie: how long, how much water, what type of soil, light, etc. thanks. I have three cuttings going and two stems air layering as you read this. any advice would be great.

I recently purchased 12 grape cuttings about one foot long. The cuttings are Cabernet Sauvignon grafted on to 101-14 rootstock. The Cabernet part of the graft is only about an inch long whereas the rootstock is about 10 inches long.
For two weeks I wrapped them in damp paper in a warm location to help jumpstart the root growing process. After two weeks all the cuttings had grown small buds, however the buds were only on the rootstock part of the graft. When I plant the cuttings, how much should be above the ground? Do I bury the entire rootstock portion, leaving only the Cabernet above the ground even though it hasn’t budded yet? I’m really an amateur so you might have to spell this one out for me. Thanks!

I recently won an Ebay auction and bought what I thought was a floating pond plant for my water garden. The box I received in the mail was full of cuttings (stems, leaves, but no roots) wrapped in wet newspaper. If I put these cuttings in my pond will they start their own root system? Thank you in advance for your insight.

If you have had success in taking cuttings from your roses & rooting them, please tell me how to do it. I live in an apartment and amazingly enough, have managed to grow roses on my back porch for a few years now. Since the plants are very healthy & beautiful, I have had requests for cuttings to root.
Can someone help me out with this process?
Thank you.

I tried to follow the book instruction. Cut the a healthy leaf, plant it immediately and wait for the cutting to develop roots. I have never been successful. Is there any other tricks?

What is the best way to root blueberry cuttings?
I have looked up some information online but am having trouble finding specifics- I am trying the method using root stimulator and a tubering method but here are some things I would like to know-
what should i look for when choosing the cuttings to use- should there be certain characteristics or certain parts of the cuttings that I should be using?
How long should it take, how long should I give it and at what point should I give up if there are no roots?
What works best root stimulator and planting them vertically in sandy soil or tubering?
What is the best environment for propegating new plants?
Any experience you can share is greatly welcome and appreciated.
I have 7 viable blueberry bushes in my yard- three are fully mature and 4 are newbies and will probably not produce for about 2 more years
the cuttings I have are from my mature bushes- I just want to know how to make sure I use cuttings that have the capacity to root and how best to ensure rooting.

Been an avid gardener for many years, but never raised any roses. How do you root new plants from an old one?
